ESCANABA — State Rep. Beau LaFave will headline the luncheon meeting of the U.P.State Employee Retirement Association Chapter 16 at noon Eastern time Sept. 9 at the Highland Golf Club, 7 miles west of Escanaba.

This will be the annual meeting for the group of retired Michigan state employees. All state retirees are invited to attend. LaFave will address automobile insurance legislation and other issues for the group.

In addition to LaFave, Lake Superior SERA member Mary Soper will present her “Hospital Handbook” to the group. The book grew out of a nightmare experience Soper had with hospitalization.

Menu for the luncheon included pot roast, ham, Polish sausage and sauerkraut; vegetable; salad bar; potatoes; and the ever-popular ice cream sundae bar for dessert. Cost is $15 per member.
