Genealogical society meets in Iron River

IRON RIVER — The Iron County Genealogical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the West Iron District Library in the J. Patrick White Conference Room.

Local genealogist David Devoice will present the program, “Roadblocks to Researching French Canadian Ancestors.” Devoice has completed intensive research into his great-great-grandparents’ pasts and will share the many ways he has learned to circumvent the brick walls that initially stymied him.

He is known for the volumes of information he has amassed and donated to the local library and museum focused on the French-Canadian connection in Iron County.

Visitors are welcome. For more information, go to the website at www.ironcountymigenealogicalsociety.org.
