IRON RIVER — The Iron County Economic Chamber Alliance, in collaboration with local businesses and organizations, will host the fifth annual Harvest & Haunt Fall Festival from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Klint Safford Memorial RV Park in Iron River.

“We’ve got some special new festival elements for the fifth year,” said Erika Sauter, chamber director. “And, as always, we try to make this event as free as possible for the community.”

This year offers expanded activities for students and young children, including a caution tape maze courtesy of First Lutheran Church and a free magic show at 4:30 p.m. from Myster E, a magician based in the Green Bay area. The festival also will include trick-or-treating the Haunted Campground from 5 to 7 p.m., and the popular Family Fun Zone, sponsored by Grace Covenant Church, with free popcorn and cotton candy, free kids’ games and crafts, bouncy house, free prize raffles and more.

The adults will have local food and craft vendors, a free cornhole tournament courtesy of River North Pub & Grill, live music all day, a beer tent featuring a special Harvest Brew from Alpha Michigan Brewing Company using Contrast Coffee, and the bonfire by the West Iron County Fire Department, Sauter added.

This year’s live music features both local and regional talent. Kicking off the festival at 3 p.m. will be One Voice doing their signature doo wop tunes. After the live magic show will be the Balsam Brothers, led by Crystal Falls native Brad Toivonen. The headliner, playing at 7 p.m. as the bonfire blazes, is Not Quite Canada, a Marquette-based group whose self-proclaimed style is a “funk-jam explosion.”

Chamber businesses and service organizations will be on site throughout the day as “Trick-or-Treat Booths,” with candy and games for kids, promotional materials and products and information about open jobs and upcoming events.

“Celebrate fall with family fun and great friends,” said Sauter, who encouraged attendees to dress in costume, bring their pets and enjoy the fall colors around the park.
