FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the lower level of the Florence Natural Resource Center. Field trips for the remainder of the year will be the topic of discussion.

One field trip already is planned for Saturday, Sept. 26. Participants will meet at 5 p.m. at the Crystal Falls Township Hall parking lot and travel to a local gravel pit. Bring a UV flashlight to find some fluorescing sodalite/syenite rocks after sunset.

Those coming to the meeting can bring snacks and beverages, along with any rock or mineral specimens to share, show or ask questions about.

Social distancing is encouraged during the meeting and those attending should have a face mask available. Updates are available on the club’s Facebook page.
