One human family – 1 Corinthians 12:12ff

In 1985, there was a severe famine in Ethiopia. So on Good Friday of that year, 8,000 radio stations across the world played the song “We Are the World,” all at the same time.

The purpose was two-fold: to raise funds to feed Ethiopian famine victims and, secondly, to show the unity of the human family.

St. Paul would have been very pleased with this gesture, because he reminds us that we are members of the same family and should use our talents for the good of the entire family.

He reminds us that “If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts suffer with it.” (1 Cor. 12:12)

Just think how much better the world would be if we all had this kind of concern for one another and wanted to try our best to be of help.

We might think we have too little to offer, but the very least we can do is to pray. Someone once said that one of the great joys we will have when we get to heaven is to learn what a difference our prayers did make. God bless.
