Pet Blessing planned Sunday for all types of companions

IRON MOUNTAIN — Holy Trinity Episcopal Church will conduct their annual Pet Blessing at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church, 221 W. B St. in Iron Mountain.

All creatures — big or small, with fur, scales, skins or feathers– are welcome.

In the past, they have blessed a horse, a pot-bellied pig, lizards, snakes and hamsters, along with dog, cats and birds.

Each creature will receive a certificate of blessing.

The blessing of the pets reminds us of God’s gift of the birds of the air, creature  of the seas and those the walk and crawl on the land, church officials said.

“We, his people, are like these creatures of the earth; all part of Gods plan and his unending love,” said the Rev. Norm Satterly.

The church will be accepting donations for the local Almost Home Shelter. They are in need of non-clumping cat litter, canned and dry cat food, kitten food, dog food, cleaning supplies and blankets for bedding.
