Northwoods Geology Club to meet

Group plans outings and Christmas in July party

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, in the lower level of the Florence Natural Resource Center; those attending should follow the Division of Motor Vehicles signs to the parking area.

No snacks or drinks will be available, but attendees can bring their own. For this meeting, members also are encouraged to bring fluorescent rocks to show and a UV flashlight.

Since last year’s Christmas party was cancelled due to COVID, the club will have a Christmas in July party in place of their usual July Wednesday night meeting. The party will be Saturday, July 24, at the Keyes Lake public beach pavilion. More information will be to come at the June meeting. Food, drinks and gift drawings will be provided by the club. Those attending are welcome to bring a dessert or anything else to pass.

Those who plan to attend are asked to let a club officer know by July 18 how many people to expect at the party.

Club members met May 26. These field trips are planned:

— Champion Mine, Saturday, June 26. Meet at 10 a.m. at the BP station at the intersection of M-95 and M-28.

— Lake Ellen Kimberlite Pipe, Saturday, July 10. Meet at 10 a.m. at the BP station in Sagola.

You must be a Northwoods Geology Club member in good standing to attend these field trips. Each trip will have a sign-in/waiver of liability sheet.
