Library lists December events

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Library’s activities for December will include:

— In December, all Dickinson County Library sites will be collecting donations for the Dickinson Iron Community Services Agency’s food pantry. Refrigerated and frozen items also can be dropped off at DICSA’s office at 1238 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain.

— Ornament Making at Norway City Hall: 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Norway City Hall, 915 Main St., Norway.

Join the Dickinson County Library at Norway’s City Hall for ornament making for all ages. After making an ornament, head over to the Norway bandshell for the community Christmas Tree Lighting, then take in the fireworks show put on by the Norway Volunteer Fire Department. After the fireworks, enjoy Santa’s Parade from St. Mary Catholic Church to City Hall. Santa and Mrs. Claus will then greet parade-goers at the City Hall.

— Jolly Old St. Nick Kits: Available starting Monday at all three library sites while supplies last.

Teens in ninth through 12th grades and adults can create old-fashioned Christmas scene dioramas with these kits that include an Altoids tin, old-fashioned Christmas stickers and various winter embellishments. Limit of one kit per household.

— Lego Club: 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain; 4 p.m. Thursday at the Solomonson Branch in Norway; and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the North Dickinson Branch in the North Dickinson County School in Felch Township.

This monthly program for third through eighth grades offers an opportunity to be creative while having fun with Legos. This month, participants will be challenged to create gingerbread houses out of Legos. Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade are invited to attend the North Dickinson session.

— Qigong/Tai Chi with Irina Tarbeeva: 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Instructor Irina Tarbeeva will lead participants through self-healing and wellness activities using qigong/tai chi exercises. This class is for beginner or intermediate levels of adults and is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Required registration begins Thursday; call the library at 906-774-1218 to sign up.
