Dickinson library events listed for August

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library events for August will include —

— Messy Misadventures: 5 to 6 p.m. today at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Kids in third through eighth grades can make messy masterpieces with cotton ball throw painting and tie-dye bags at this monthly summer program. Registration is required; call the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain at 906-774-1218 to sign up. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Dr. Daniel and Christine McMahon.

— The Art of Being: 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

This drop-in program is designed for patrons in fifth grade and older who are currently battling cancer, are survivors of cancer and for those who are/have been caregivers (includes family, friends, medical persons, etc.). Each month a craft kit will be available for attendees to do if they wish; August will be globe decorating. This is a safe space to share experiences and meet others. No registration is required. Sponsored by attorney Brian Brouillette.

— Gamers’ Club: 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Solomonson Branch in Norway.

Get your game on with a variety of video and board games at this monthly program for kids in third through eighth grades. No registration is required.

— Mini Fire Pit S’more Kits: 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain; 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Solomonson Branch in Norway; and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the North Dickinson Branch at North Dickinson County School in Felch Township.

Kits will be available for patrons in third grade and older to make their own travel s’more kit for adventures near and far. No registration is required. Sponsored by Rize.

— Adventures in Storytime: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Explore the wonders of early literacy through books, songs and activities at this program for kids through age 5 and their caregivers. Wear gray and go on enormous adventures with books “How to Find an Elephant” by Kate Banks and “If You Were an Elephant” by Leslie Staub. No registration is required. Sponsored by Mary Endelman.

— Mr. Tempo’s Tune Tots: 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain.

Join Mr. Tempo as he leads an interactive, engaging concert for kids through age 5. This concert will encourage movement and inspire an interest in music in young patrons. Tune Tots shows are all about letting the creative young mind run free and explore. Their shows are loud. They are chaotic. They are fun. And they are meant to be that way. Children spend a lot of their time learning and understanding, so the library want this to be an experience where they can relax and explore the world of music freely. No registration is required.
