Brass Roots Trio to play Friday in Crystal Falls
CRYSTAL FALLS — Crystal Theatre will welcome Brass Roots Trio, a unique and widely acclaimed ensemble, to the stage at 7 p.m. Friday in Crystal Falls.
With a variety of instruments — trumpet, flugelhorn, French horn, Native American flute, vocals and piano — Travis Heath, Douglas Lundeen and Rosetta Senkus Bacon infuse their music with exuberant energy. Brass Roots Trio creates symphonic sounds, making three instruments sound like a small orchestra.
Classical by intent and eclectic by content, Brass Roots Trio’s programs take unexpected twists and turns as they flow from Baroque melodies to showpieces of Gershwin and Bernstein. With commentaries that are informative and often humorous, the trio’s warm-hearted presentation easily connects with the audience.
Brass Roots Trio has played to standing ovations in every corner of the U.S. and U.K. since 2004. In 2009, the trio was honored to perform for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and their guests at the White House.
Individually, the artists have performed around the world with engagements at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City and cultural centers and festivals across Europe and Asia.
One review stated, “Gershwin, Hayes, Copland and even Billy Joel have never been played better or with more originality than by Brass Roots Trio. Piano, trumpet and horn combined for a unique blend of the American musical style … in a fun and entertaining manner.”
Season flex-passes or advance tickets for Brass Roots Trio can be purchased online at thecrystaltheatre.org, by phoning 906-875-3208, or in person 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at Stage Left.
