Mobile food pantry seeks new site for November, December

QUINNESEC — The Feeding America West Michigan Mobile Food Pantry that has been taking place monthly in Dickinson County will not be able to use the Tri-City Cinemas 8 parking lot for the months of November and December.

Anda Tavonatti, the local site coordinator, is in the process of acquiring a new location so the food distribution on Wednesday, Nov. 13, does not need to be canceled. She will announce the new location or cancellation via any media available to her as the date approaches.

As with the previous mobile food pantries, free food is available to any household that is experiencing food insecurity.

This would still be a drive-thru food distribution, with food distribution beginning promptly at 10 a.m. and check-in/registration beginning at least an hour beforehand. Customers should be prepared for a lengthy wait in line.

Customers would also be asked to provide full name, full address, household size and make-up, and reason for needing food. No proof of identity, residency, or eligibility is required. If picking up for another household, the same information must be provided in a signed note by an adult member of that household. A maximum of three households per vehicle. Customers should have in their vehicles boxes, laundry baskets or totes where volunteers can place the food.

The local partner agency for the monthly Dickinson County mobile food pantry is Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain. Questions about the mobile food pantry or about volunteering should be directed to Anda Tavonatti at 906-239-6778, not to Holy Trinity Church.

Starting at $2.99/week.
