Wildflower walk Saturday
MARINETTE, Wis. — A Spring Wildflower Walk will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Harmony Arboretum, on Highway 64 about 7 miles west of Marinette.
Native flowers can be small and subtle in spring, but their beauty is worth exploring. Trillium, bloodroot, bellwort, Dutchman’s breeches and spring beauty are some of the varieties that bloom early in the year.
The walk is about 1.5 miles, with some uneven terrain and a few inclines. Participants should meet at the pavilion by the parking area. The event will be cancelled if bad weather threatens. Those attending should wear good walking shoes or hiking boots and dress for the weather. Insect repellent is recommended.
