Free film showing Saturday in CF
CRYSTAL FALLS — “Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band,” is a free movie that will be shown at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Crystal Theatre in Crystal Falls.
This movie will be the official kickoff to the Crystal Falls District Community Library’s Summer Reading Program for 2025, “Color Our World!” PBS describes the movie as a “toe-tapping special which follows the musical adventures of the precocious, young Rooster, who dreams of joining a world-class jazz band alongside his talented friends, including Mules Davis, Lil Herdin, Ella Finchgerald, Duck Ellington, and the Chick-a-Dees (an adorable trio of preschool chicks).”
“It has been a pleasure working with Conor McCoy, the former education engagement coordinator of Northern Michigan University, who has helped the library and theatre to obtain the film to show at the Crystal Theatre. Thank you also goes to Kristin Underhill, theatre manager, and the Crystal Theatre board for allowing us to have this event,” Library Director Evelyn Gathu said.
“The movie is about an hour long. The film is free to attend, but be sure to bring some money for popcorn, drinks and snacks, as concessions will be available.”
“One of the weeks of the Summer Reading program this year concentrates on the performing arts, and this movie, which is based on Kwame Alexander’s great book, ‘Acoustic Rooster and His Barnyard Band,’ is a perfect fit for our program with its introduction to jazz music and performers for children. I hope everyone can come and enjoy the show,” she said.
This movie is sponsored by The Crystal Falls District Library, Friends of the Crystal Falls District Library and Crystal Theatre.
