KINGSFORD — The community is invited to “Rock the Patio” on Friday at Venue 906 in Kingsford.
The local band Money 2 Burn will perform a variety of classic and new rock music from 7 to 10 p.m. on the patio.
Starting at 5 p.m., Venue 906 will have barbecue available for purchase.
Funds raised at the event will go to help the Lake Antoine Park Partners finance musical playground equipment they want to install at Lake Antoine Park in Iron Mountain.
Lake Antoine Park Partners volunteer Doni-Mae Rauch first approached Emilie Stevens of Venue 906 about possibly renting the space for an event.
“When she brought her sister, Brytnee Doda, into the conversation, they realized their ‘Rock the Patio’ plans could accommodate them,” she said. “To see two sisters get excited about helping us push our fundraising towards its goal was fun to watch.”
Venue 906 owner Brad Staedt, along with two members of the Money 2 Burn band, came to the park to see LAPP’s plans for the new inclusive playground.
“It was nice to see Dave Bonetti and Mark Monosso ask questions about how they could help,” Rauch said.
Bonetti and Monosso agreed the community needs an all-inclusive playground.
“It’s great to see what they (LAPP) is doing here,” Bonetti said. “This is something great and I am happy to help support their efforts.”
Venue 906 co-owner Lori Staedt also came to assist with the fundraiser and put together raffle baskets.
In addition, LAPP will be selling 50-50 raffle tickets throughout the night.
An anonymous donor has already started the raffle pot at $100, Rauch noted. The band will draw the winner at 9 p.m.
“Let’s come together for a great cause, enjoy some awesome tunes and make a difference in our community,” said Emilie Stevens of Venue 906.
Lake Antoine Park Partners is grateful to Venue 906 for stepping up and helping to raise finances for the project. The new all-inclusive playground equipment will be near the beachfront at the park.
“It would be fun if LAPP and Venue 906 raised enough funds at ‘Rock The Patio’ to finance the musical instrument part of the playground equipment,” said Rauch, noting work is to begin in the fall.
Venue 906 is at 900 Breitung Ave. in Kingsford.
