SAM BRACKET, the new manager of ski operations at Pine Mountain Ski Resort in Iron Mountain.

New ski manager at Pine Mountain

IRON MOUNTAIN — Sam Bracket has taken over as manager of ski operations at Pine Mountain Ski Resort, effective Wednesday.

Bracket has extensive experience within the ski industry, including Mont Ripley in Ripley, Mich.; June Mountain, June Lake, Calif.; Mammoth Mountain, Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; and Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Bracket has spent the past four years as mountain manager at Pine Mountain. His leadership has been a major factor in the success of ski operations during the resort remodel.

“I love the U.P. and Pine Mountain has become my home,” Bracket said. “I will use my passion for the ski industry along with the knowledge and resources I’ve gained over the years to improve the resort as a whole.  My goal is to make Pine a destination getaway, not only for traveling skiers, golfers and families but for our local community as well. It’s very important to keep our younger generation excited about skiing.”

Bracket will oversee improvements to the ski hill and its operations.

InvestUP offers COVID website

MARQUETTE — A new website has been developed to share key resources for businesses affected by COVID-19.

This collaborative effort, developed by InvestUP with economic development partners from across the Upper Peninsula, is intended to be a trusted and dedicated resource with the most recent and relevant information available.

“We recognize that so many U.P.-based businesses are enduring challenges as a result of COVID-19 and while there are many resources available, navigating and finding all of them can be its own challenge,” said Marty Fittante, CEO of InvestUP.

Businesses can go to www.update906.com to share and link to resources. The website features the definition of critical infrastructure industries/workers, small business relief programs, COVID-19 business impact surveys, and key web links. It also has a comprehensive list of contacts for local economic development organizations along with regional, state, and federal representatives dedicated to supporting the Upper Peninsula.
