IM Farmers Market to start June 6 for summer

IRON MOUNTAIN — The 2020 Iron Mountain Farmers and Artisans Summer Market will start Saturday, June 6, in the area across from the Dickinson County Library in downtown Iron Mountain.

The market will be 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays through Oct. 17. The public is asked to stay away from the market area before 8 a.m. to give vendors a chance to set up their products safely.

“We would like the public to know that the Farmers Market is following guidelines for social distancing,” said Nancy Schaub, market manager. “While in normal times we enjoy that people come to the market to shop and socialize, these are not normal times. We are asking the public to only come to the market to get what they need, to preorder if possible. Even though we are outdoors we would prefer they wear a mask, make liberal use of our hand sanitizing stations and maintain social distancing. We ask the public to enter the market from the east and west entrances and refrain from walking behind the vendors — this is for our safety and yours. We hope that the need for social distancing will end soon and the market will be able to become a social event once again.”

The market is managed by Schaub together with the market executive committee under the auspices of the Downtown Development Authority.

Space still may be available for those wishing to sell locally grown produce and plants. Artists and crafters producing unique products from natural or organic materials are encouraged to join other vendors at the market as well.

The market also is open to those locally produced food products. Vendors no longer will be accepted on site but are required to submit a completed application for the market committee to review.

There is a cost to join the market. Those looking to become a vendor or citizens seeking more information can contact the Iron Mountain Farmers and Artisans Market manager at 906-774-9223 or e-mail hsrhnschaub@att.net.

The market also is looking for musicians who want to perform. Those interested should contact the market manager.
