Nurses complete program at Iron Mountain VA

IRON MOUNTAIN The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center announced the graduation of three nurses from its Registered Nurse (RN) Transition-to-Practice Program.

Tia Romagnoli, RN, Amy Thom, RN, and Tammy Povolo, RN, participated in the 12-month program, which uses a comprehensive VA curriculum designed to assist the post-graduate nurse in the transition from entry-level RN to competent nursing professional.

Romagnoli serves on the general medical/surgical inpatient floor and Thom and Povolo Kiser serve in the Intensive Care Unit.

The mission of the VA Transition-to-Practice Program is to provide the resident RN with an experience that will give additional training to enhance patient care at the bedside and support development of professional behavior and leadership in the nursing profession.

The Veterans Health Administration places a high priority on the education of future professionals in a number of professions, and the Iron Mountain-based VA Medical Center is a regional leader in training students pursuing careers in the medical and mental health professions.

The graduates each concluded their program with a presentation to the medical center leadership on current medical research that will benefit the medical center.
