Harvest & Haunt Fall Festival set Sept. 26 in IR

IRON RIVER – The Iron County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free Harvest & Haunt Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Klint Safford Memorial RV Park in Iron River.

“It’s a fun, free event for families and all ages,” said Joe Voellinger, chamber executive director. “And there’s a lot of ‘free’ – including free chili, free live music all day, free popcorn and cotton candy, free hayrides, free kids’ games and crafts, and free cider and donuts.”

There will also be food vendors, a beer tent, coffee, and more.

The festival begins at 2 p.m. with live music from one of the four bands playing at the festival until 9 p.m.

The Oldenburg Group Chili Cook-Off Contest and 5K Run/2-mile Fun Walk is set for 3 p.m. Free chili will be available for festival attendees from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Kids’ games and crafts, face painting, pumpkin painting, and a costume dress-up tent will be available all day at the chamber/RV park grounds. A People and Pets Costume Parade and Contest starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by trick-or-treating in the haunted campground from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The bean bag corn hole tournament starts at 5 p.m., and at 7 p.m., the West Iron County Fire Department will light their bonfire.

Chamber businesses will be onsite throughout the day to harvest new customers, offering promotional materials, products, and information about upcoming events.

“Celebrate fall with free fun and help support a good cause – Heart & Soles of 906 – providing new shoes to area children in need,” said Voellinger, who also encouraged attendees to dress in costume, bring their pets, and enjoy the fall colors around the park.

For more information, visit the Chamber website at www.Iron.org or call (906) 265-3822.

Registration forms for the Chili Run and Chili Cook-Off are available online; at the Chamber office at 50 E. Genesee St.; and the Oldenburg Group, 1520 W. Adams/U.S. 2.
