Economic summit set in Iron County

IRON RIVER — The Iron County Economic Chamber Alliance will host its second annual economic summit from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Young’s in Iron River.

The theme this year will be “Live, Work and Play in Iron County,” with a focus on issues related to economic, tourism, workforce and community development in the Iron County region.

The event will feature three keynote speakers, multiple roundtable brainstorming sessions and ample networking opportunities. The speakers are:

— Live: Christopher Merrett, director of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs and a geography professor at Western Illinois University;

— Work: Bob Jacquart, CEO of Jacquart Fabric Products in Ironwood, the manufacturer of Stormy Kromer brand products since 2001;

— Play: Dave Lorenz, vice president of Travel Michigan, where he is responsible for leading Michigan’s award-winning PureMichigan tourism program.

Registration will start at 8 a.m. The event also includes a continental breakfast, complementary lunch and networking time both during the event and immediately afterward at Young’s FireBrick Bar & Grill.

There is no cost to participate, but space is limited, so reservations should be made well in advance.
