Florence Volunteer Fire Department Captain Jack Bomberg, left, accepts a $300 donation from Perry Jacobs from Jacobs Funeral Home. This money will be used for training and gear. Florence Volunteer Fire Department has a long history of serving and protecting the citizens of Florence County. The department holds a fundraiser to keep up on training and stay up to date with new equipment and technologies. The cost to outfit a firefighter is approximately $5,000. For the past 14 years, the department has held a single fundraiser, the fireman’s ball on the last weekend in February.
