Implicit Bias Conference on Feb. 24

Green Bay, Wis. — Prevea Health announces the 2022 Implicit Bias Conference — a daylong virtual presentation for advocates, law enforcement, employers, social workers, human resources professionals and health care providers — from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24.

The event will bring local and national speakers together, to share how individuals can better recognize and correct their unconscious behaviors.

“Our goal is to help everyone walk away with an increased understanding of how implicit bias is connected to social detriments of health. If you offer health care to victims or survivors of violence, this content from the conference will provide you with tools and perspective that better care for patients and clients,” said Dr. Ashok Rai, president and CEO of Prevea Health.

Attendees of the virtual conference will additionally learn how attitudes and stereotypes can affect people’s understanding, actions and even decisions in an unconscious manner. Through the sharing of research and individual stories from the various speakers, attendees will hear how implicit bias can impact decisions, behaviors and interactions with others in a negative way.

“We aim to shed light on how trauma, a variety of negative individual and community outcomes, and systemic racism are connected,” explained Renita Robinson, vice president of Diversity and Inclusion at Prevea Health.

The conference will be presented virtually at no charge to participants. The event will feature nearly 20 speakers who will discuss how creating equity in the workforce can benefit the general public, health professionals and supporters of victims of sexual and domestic violence. Participants will also learn about some of the strategies that can be used to create a solution to the problem.
