IRON MOUNTAIN –The Cure Teen Coaching & Life Skills Workshop recently celebrated joining the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The Cure Teen Coaching & Life Skills Workshop opened in January as a 501(c)(3) non-profit at 922 River Ave. in Iron Mountain, former site of the Good Earth Salon.
Its aims to provide a community resource to equip students and young adults with the tools that they need to face the daily challenges of life.
“We invite parents to enroll their children in either our one-on-one mentoring program or our workshops … or both,” said Heather Ruesch, executive director of The Cure. “Our programming is designed to help youth build self-confidence, improve their attitudes toward school, develop healthy relationships, manage emotions, learn to be decisive and to live healthy lives.”
High school and college students looking for opportunities to develop leadership skills are invited to apply for a place in The Cure’s Student Leadership Alliance, a peer-to-peer mentorship program with the mission of building stronger social-emotional connections with one another and within area communities. Coaching and workshops are open to students ages 10 to 24.
The office at The Cure is open noon to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and by appointment for teen coaching sessions. Life skills workshop times vary, so those interested should check The Cure’s website for a monthly schedule.
