Giroux named Build UP director of Development and Investment

ANNE GIROUX

MARQUETTE — Anne Giroux has joined InvestUP as director of Development and Investment Services for its subsidiary non-profit, Build U.P.

In this position, Giroux will support developers, lenders and communities across the Upper Peninsula in accessing available housing incentives and partnerships to help in strategic development projects.

“Build U.P. has already helped advance 200 new homes across six counties, launched a first-of-its-kind Intermediate School District partnership and opened doors for development projects that have long been stalled,” InvestUP CEO Marty Fittante said. “Anne’s unique, one-of-a-kind expertise in public finance, Brownfield redevelopment and land banking will help us build on that momentum and continue breaking down barriers as we stay focused on supporting housing development, business expansion, and community revitalization efforts across the Upper Peninsula. We’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Giroux brings more than 25 years of experience in local government finance to her new position. Before joining InvestUP, she was deputy county administrator/finance manager for Marquette County and, before that, was Marquette County treasurer.

During her tenure, she established and managed the Marquette County Brownfield Authority and the Marquette County Land Bank Authority for 16 years, helping to spark development projects across the region. She is also a past president of the Michigan Association of County Treasurers and the Michigan Association of Land Banks.

“I am grateful to InvestUP for affording me the opportunity to pursue my passion, join a great team and build upon the impact they have made in a short time,” Giroux said. “I am excited to work with developers, communities, and financial institutions throughout the U.P. My expectation is that with my background in local government, Brownfield redevelopment and land banking, I can be an immediate resource to those looking to put together challenging development projects. The services I will be providing will be a great complement to the financing tools available through Build U.P.”

InvestUP is the regional economic development organization for the Upper Peninsula, working to advance prosperity across all 15 counties of the U.P. For more about InvestUP and its programs, go online to http://investupmi.com.
