MARQUETTE — A fire Wednesday in a U-Haul moving truck destroyed household items belonging to a family that was moving from Iron River to Ohio, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office said.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported at 7:15 p.m. Eastern time in the Days Inn parking lot on U.S. 41 in Marquette Township.

The storage section of the truck became fully engulfed in flames and the truck and all its contents were destroyed, deputies said. The cause is unknown.

Assisting were the Marquette Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police.
