100-Plus Women Who Care to meet Tuesday
IRON MOUNTAIN — The organization 100-Plus Women Who Care in Dickinson County will have its final quarterly meeting of 2017 on Tuesday to decide which fortunate area non-profit program or agency gets to benefit from the group’s collective generosity.
This meeting will mark the 20th time 100-Plus Women has gone through this quarterly process in which women contribute $100 each, as individuals or groups of four, into a pot that last time amounted to about $24,000.
They then listen to three pitches for who should receive the entire amount. In August, The Kiwanis Ski Club got the nod for more than $23,000 toward its planned upgrades to the Pine Mountain ski jump facilities.
Members are encouraged to nominate a worthy 501(c)(3) organization in the area. If four meetings have passed since a group was selected for the donation, it is eligible to be nominated again.
Registration for Monday’s meeting will begin at 5 p.m., with the session to start at 6 p.m. at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. A pizza buffet will be available afterwards for $8 a person.
Since December 2012, 100-Plus Women has raised almost $422,000 for local 501(c)(3) charities and organizations in the community.
