Lake Antoine Park Partners have new non-profit status

IRON MOUNTAIN –The Lake Antoine Park Partners (LAPP) is pleased to announce its new status as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

This group arose from the desire of both citizens and local government for Lake Antoine Park to “be all that it can be.”

Formalized this summer, the LAPP mission is to preserve, improve, promote and protect Lake Antoine Park for the use and benefit of the general public.

LAPP hopes to assist with fundraising and “friend-raising” efforts to contribute toward items such as new playground equipment, rest rooms, boat launch, and beach improvements.

With the exciting announcement of Lake Antoine Park being recommended for $30,000 state funding for playground equipment, the group has its first goal to provide local match funds of $2,000.

To help meet that goal, Newspapers in Education (NIE) has committed to partnering with LAPP to host the first ever “Lake Antoine Flea Market & Fun Fair,” the working title of an outdoor flea and craft market.

Live music, food, and a car show are also proposed for this family-friendly event to be held Sept. 8 at Lake Antoine Park. Stay tuned for more details on this event and other opportunities for citizens to provide sweat equity at clean-up and playground installation days in 2018.

The Lake Antoine Park Partners meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Sheriff’s Department Conference Room (lower level – 300 E D St., Iron Mountain.) The meetings are open to the public and community input is sought.

With its new 501(c)3 status, LAPP is gladly accepting tax-deductible donations for use on park improvements.
