Farmers market Saturday in IM

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain Farmers and Artisans Summer Market will be 8 a.m. to noon Saturday across from the Dickinson County Library in downtown Iron Mountain.

The public is asked to refrain from being in market area before 8 a.m. to give vendors a chance to set up their products safely.

The market is managed by Nancy Schaub and the Farmers Market Executive Committee under the auspices of the Downtown Development Authority.

“Italian Fest will only move us a little bit west in our same parking lot,” Schaub said. “We encourage those who are mobile to park behind City Hall or across Stephenson on East A Street lot so that the limited parking spaces available can be used by those who cannot walk far. We are dedicating some parking specifically for seniors and we ask the public to honor those spots. Travel will also be restricted on Iron Mountain Street. But we want everyone to know we are open for business as usual.”

Kingsford Krush will be selling roller derby tickets and merchandise at the market this week.

There are perennial plants available for gardeners, along with fresh-cut greens, corn, garlic, beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, fresh herbs, potatoes, winter squash, spaghetti squash, seasonal berries, eggs, meat, jam, honey, and maple syrup. Lots of locally produced crafts, art and baked goods are waiting to be discovered.

The market continues each Saturday through Oct. 13.

Space may still be available for those wishing to sell locally grown produce, plants or food products. Local artist and crafters producing unique products or materials are encouraged to join other vendors at the market.

Interested farmer or artist vendors wanting to participate or citizens seeking additional information can contact Schaub at 906-774-9223 or e-mail hsrhnschaub@att.net.

The market is also looking for musicians who want to perform at the market. If interested, contact Schaub.
