Richards issues October report

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa M. Richards has released her office’s activity report for the month of October.

The office received 91 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

From the reports received, the office authorized 21 felony and 37 misdemeanor warrants. Fourteen warrant requests were reviewed and denied.

Warrants authorized included eight for domestic violence or assault offenses, nine for alcohol offenses, 26 for theft or property offenses, ten for drug offenses, ten for traffic offenses, one for criminal sexual conduct, one for sex offender registration act violations, one or using a computer to commit a crime, two for child abuse offenses, one for accosting a minor for immoral purposes, one for reckless use of a firearm, one for boarding a train in motion and four for fugitive from justice.

The office also drafted and submitted six juvenile delinquency petitions to the probate court.

Throughout the month, there were 22 scheduled preliminary examinations resulting in 11 defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, 28 circuit court arraignments, 14 circuit court pre-trial conferences, and 16 circuit court sentencing hearings.

The office also conducted numerous bench trials, motion hearings, probation violation and show cause hearings.
