Machine for clearing Norway sidewalks sidelined

NORWAY — Some parts of Norway may have to be patient on having snow cleared from sidewalks after one of the city’s machines broke down last week.

It could take weeks before the machine can be repaired, as the city no longer has a local dealer and must buy parts directly from the manufacturer, City Manager Ray Anderson told the city council Monday.

The council unanimously approved $1,283.11 for those parts.

The unit is about five years old, Anderson said, “but there’s a lot of moving parts.”

“It takes a beating,” council member Lee Meneghini added.

Houses on that unit’s route will receive letters explaining the delay.
