Michigan names ‘water trails’

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Eight waterways totaling more than 540 miles are Michigan’s first state-designated water trails.

The Department of Natural Resources and Michigan’s Office of the Great Lakes made the selections.

Among them are the Chain of Lakes Water Trail in Antrim and Kalkaska counties; the Huron River Water Trail in Livingston, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties; and the Middle Grand River Water Trail in Clinton, Eaton, Ingham and Ionia counties.

A water trail is a designated route on a navigable waterway.
