Richards issues report for April

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa M. Richards has released her department’s activity report for April.

The office received 84 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

From those reports, the office authorized 19 felony and 38 misdemeanor warrants. There were 26 warrant requests reviewed and denied and three were resubmitted to the investigating agency for further investigation.

Warrants authorized included nine for domestic violence or assault offenses, 16 for alcohol offenses, 12 for theft or property offenses, 11 for drug offenses, 12 for traffic offenses, one for carrying a concealed weapon, one for Sex Offender Registration Act violations, and three for fugitive from justice.

The office also drafted and submitted one abuse and neglect petition and one juvenile delinquency petition to the probate court.

Throughout the month, the office had 31 preliminary examinations resulting in 11 defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, five circuit court sentencing hearings, 14 circuit court pre-trial conferences and 19 circuit court arraignments.

The office also conducted numerous bench trials, motion hearings, probation violation and show cause hearings in the district, probate and circuit courts.
