Upper Peninsula Sustainable Forest and Wildlife Fund awards grants
ESCANABA — Greg Sudderth, chair of the Upper Peninsula Sustainable Forest and Wildlife Fund Grants Committee in Escanaba, announced the recipients of the April 2019 grants round.
Those receiving grants are: Clear Lake Education Center Stewards Group, Delta Sense of Place Series, UTOPIA Schoolship Programming; DeYoung Family Zoo, bear project; Delta Animal Shelter, dog walking trail; Delta Conservation District, Halloween Spooktacular; Great Lakes Sports & Recreation Club, National Hunting and Fishing Day; Great Lakes Sports & Recreation Club, youth shooting program; Keweenaw Land Trust, Inc., establish Abbeye Peninsula GEMS at Keweenaw Land Trust Huron Bay Field Station and Community Foundation for Delta County, establish a Tim Kobasic Memorial Fund.
“Our committee is grateful for the foresight of the former Mead Corporation for their desire to have a partnership with their employees; sportsmen and sportswomen and the youth of the Upper Peninsula,” Sudderth said. “We are a committee under the auspices of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula. It is our mission to foster a better understanding of our forests and wildlife as well as assist U. P. residents, including our youth, to become more active and enjoy the outdoors as much as is possible.”
