Habitat grant

From left, at one of the roofing projects, are Nancy Pellegrini, Habitat executive director; volunteer Michael Kulas, wearing one of the safe-tie kits; and Tamara Juul, executive director of DACF.

The Dickinson Area Community Foundation recently awarded a $250 mini-grant to Habitat for Humanity Menominee River for the purchase of three rooftop safe-tie bucket kits. The kits will be used by volunteers when performing roofing projects. Specifically, the current repair blitz — Operation Shingle Storm — is an 11-day repair blitz for local income-qualified veteran home owners. Ten homes will have major repairs completed during Operation Shingle Storm.
