IRON MOUNTAIN — A 46-year-old Breitung Township man was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital after his motorcycle was struck Tuesday morning by a vehicle on Carpenter Avenue.

The crash occurred at 11:08 a.m. when a 19-year-old Florence, Wis., man attempting to turn south onto Carpenter Avenue from West D Street struck the northbound motorcycle, according to a release from Iron Mountain Director of Police and Fire Services Ed Mattson.

An on-duty police officer witnessed the collision, Mattson stated. The accident remains under investigation.

The police and fire departments were assisted by Integrity Care EMS, the Michigan State Police, Kingsford Public Safety and the Iron Mountain Department of Public Works.
