IRON MOUNTAIN — The weather forecast sounds perfect for the second annual Crafty Flea Market set for Saturday at Lake Antoine Park in Iron Mountain.

Even if it isn’t, the event will go on rain or shine, organizers said.

“This year we have a little bit of everything for sale from antiques to up-cycled items; pork rinds to elephant ears; many handmade crafts and a few direct sale companies. Come on out and spend the day with us,” said Jennifer Flynn, circulation manager for The Daily News.

The Crafty Flea Market is a combined fundraising effort by The Daily News’ Newspapers in Education, or NIE, and Lake Antoine Park Partners that benefits both non-profit programs. NIE provides area schools with newspapers that assist teachers and other educators, while Lake Antoine Park Partners aims to help beautify Lake Antoine Park.

Flynn said community support has been outstanding. “Last year, we started with 14 sites and ended up with 47. This year, we have sold 72 sites,” she said, adding space no longer is available.

Concessions this year will be available at pavilion No. 1 through New Hope Church, which will serve food plates that include a hotdog, chips and drink for $2, plus handle random giveaways.

“Many local businesses have come together to support this event and will be listed on a banner at the church booth. Any proceeds from the food plates will go back into helping those in our community,” said Karla Johnson of New Hope Church.

Amber Grassinger from the Dickinson Iron Health Department will also be on site with a Lactation Station near the campground restrooms.

The park this year will have designated handicap parking as well.

Admission is $2 per person, with ages 10 and younger let in for free.

Community members are encouraged to come support the vendors, crafters and non-profit programs. “We hope to continue to make this an annual event to be held the first Saturday after Labor Day,” said Doni Mae Rauch of Lake Antoine Park Partners.
