100-Plus Women Who Care to meet Tuesday at Pine Grove

IRON MOUNTAIN — The organization 100-Plus Women Who Care in Dickinson County will have its final quarterly meeting of 2019 on Tuesday to decide which fortunate area non-profit program or agency gets to benefit from the group’s collective generosity.

As in the past, participating women will contribute $100 each, as individuals or groups of four, into a pot that usually totals about $23,000.

They then listen to three pitches for who should receive the entire amount. They also will hear from the Menominee Range Historical Foundation, which received about $23,000 from the group in August.

Members are encouraged to nominate a worthy 501(c)(3) organization in the area. If four meetings have passed since a group was selected for the donation, it is eligible to be nominated again.

Registration for Tuesday’s meeting will begin at 5 p.m., with the session to start at 6 p.m. at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. A pizza buffet will be available afterwards for $8 a person.

Since December 2012, 100-Plus Women has raised more than $581,000 for local 501(c)(3) charities and organizations in the community. Tuesday’s meeting should push the organization past the $600,000 mark.
