SAGOLA TOWNSHIP — A Sagola Township resident died Sunday afternoon in a house fire on M-95 in Dickinson County.

Troopers were called about 4:06 p.m. after a relative tried to enter the home but could not due to smoke inhalation, according to a release from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post.

The resident later was found dead inside the home, the cause of which has yet to be determined.

The name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Troopers were assisted by the Sagola Township and Breitung Township volunteer fire departments, Alpha-Mastodon Fire Department, STAR Ambulance Service, Aspirus EMS, Integrity EMS, We Energies and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
