Virus cases up by 31 in Dickinson, Iron counties

Dickinson and Iron counties Tuesday had 31 new COVID-19 positives between them, continuing the upward trend for both counties, according to local health officials.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Tuesday reported 16 new COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County for 152 confirmed cases and three probables, with 64 recovered, two deaths and 89 cases still active. Iron County had 15 new positives for 193 confirmed cases and six probables, with 31 recovered, four deaths and 164 cases still active, the DIDHD stated on its Facebook page.

Michigan’s COVID-19 data site Tuesday indicated 103 new positives in the Upper Peninsula: 26 in Houghton County, 18 in Iron County, 16 in Dickinson and Delta counties, eight in Menominee and Marquette counties, four in Baraga County, three in Gogebic County and two in Mackinac and Schoolcraft counties.

The state Tuesday also showed a second death in Menominee County, although Public Health, Delta and Menominee Counties did not confirm the additional death on its website.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, that state’s data site Tuesday listed 32 new cases in Marinette County, 15 in Forest and Vilas counties, two in Florence County and one in Iron County.

In total for the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday had Keweenaw County with eight confirmed cases and two probable; Luce County, 12 confirmed cases and one probable; Alger County, 17 confirmed and two probable; Baraga County, 26 confirmed cases, nine probable and two deaths; Schoolcraft County, 27 confirmed cases and two probable; Ontonagon County, 41 confirmed and one probable; Mackinac County, 44 confirmed cases and 18 probable; Chippewa County, 50 confirmed cases and

28 probable; Gogebic County, 151 confirmed cases, 13 probable and a death; Dickinson County, 156 confirmed cases, three probable and two deaths; Iron County, 193 confirmed cases, four probable and two deaths; Marquette County, 327 confirmed cases, 57 probable and 12 deaths; Menominee County, 350 confirmed cases, 58 probable and two deaths; Delta County, 419 confirmed cases, 52 probable and eight deaths; and Houghton County, 441 confirmed cases, 90 probable and one death. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state figures Tuesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 2,262 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date with 30 deaths.

The MDHHS reported 898 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Tuesday for a total of 123,633 to date. The state added 20 new deaths Tuesday – including four that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS – for a total of 6,751.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had Marinette County with 976 confirmed cases, 19 probable cases and eight deaths; Forest County, 289 confirmed, three probable and six deaths; Vilas County, 227 confirmed, eight probable and a death; Iron County, 143 confirmed, seven probable and one death; and Florence County, 96 confirmed and two deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin recorded 2,367 new positives in the state Tuesday for a total of 119,955, according to the state DHS data site. The state had 17 new COVID-19 deaths Tuesday to reach 1,300.
