Morrin new Florence school administrator

KARL MORRIN

FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence County School District has selected Karl Morrin as its new administrator, effective July 1.

Morrin has been a principal and pupil services director for more than 12 years, working for the Suring School District, the Manawa School District and the Menominee Indian School District, where he currently is assistant superintendent and director of pupil services.

A native of Washburn, Wis., he received a bachelor’s degree in 1995 from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in physical education, adaptive physical education, health education and coaching. He began his career with the Laona School District from 1995-97. He then worked for the Valders Area School District from 1997-2006, moving to Chilton Public Schools from 2006-2008.

Morrin earned his master’s degree in educational leadership in 2006 from Marian University in Fond du Lac.

He has coached many sports over his 25 years in education. Presently, he is on the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Control, and is the ethnic minority representative for the board.

He has two sons, Marshall and Jackson, who both attend UW-La Crosse.

“I am looking forward to this opportunity,” Morrin said. “Florence has a great reputation as a school district and is in such a beautiful part of our state. I am looking forward to meeting with the staff, students and community members. It’s a great day to be a Bobcat.”

Current Florence County School superintendent Ben Niehaus resigned Dec. 22 after accepting a position with the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. His last day with the district will be June 30.
