New virus positives in Dickinson and Iron counties

State COVID-19 data Friday showed four more confirmed positives in both Dickinson and Iron counties, with Dickinson topping 2,200 cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday listed 62 new confirmed positives: 18 in Marquette County; nine in Chippewa County; seven in both Houghton and Schoolcraft counties; five in Luce County; four each in Dickinson, Iron and Delta counties; two in Menominee County; and one each in Alger and Mackinac counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 17,372 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 399 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 124 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 144 confirmed cases and 133 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 260 confirmed cases and 45 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 288 confirmed, 166 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 322 confirmed cases and 169 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 376 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 520 confirmed cases, 107 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 880 confirmed cases and 1,186 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Iron County, 884 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 972 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,655 confirmed cases, 281 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,202 confirmed cases and 258 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,291 confirmed cases, 559 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,804 confirmed cases and 526 probable, 67 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,650 confirmed cases, 630 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 5,498 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 683,793. The state added 20 new deaths Friday to reach 16,161.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had three new positives in Marinette County, two in Vilas County and one in Iron County.

The DHS on Friday had Marinette County with 4,008 confirmed cases, 411 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,195 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 937 confirmed, 71 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 568 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 875 new positives Friday for a total of 578,587 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed eight new deaths Friday for a total of 6,633.
