State adds new virus positive in Iron County

State data Monday recorded four more confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula over the weekend, including one in Iron County.

The other three came in Marquette County, which also had a new coronavirus-related death, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 20,059 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 440 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 255 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 322 confirmed, 195 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 354 confirmed cases and 85 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 421 confirmed, 61 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 457 confirmed cases and 256 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 693 confirmed cases, 126 probable and 38 deaths; Iron County, 984 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,043 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 23 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,085 confirmed cases and 1,416 probable, and 28 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,795 confirmed cases, 331 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,409 confirmed cases and 345 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,531 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,343 confirmed cases and 713 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,254 confirmed cases, 821 probable and 62 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday posted 327 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since the last update Friday for a total to date of 893,491. The state Monday had 35 new deaths attributed to the virus to reach 19,647.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site had one new confirmed positive in both Marinette and Forest counties since its last update Friday.

As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin on Monday added 107 new positives since Friday for a total of 612,155 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 15 new deaths over the weekend to reach 7,250.
