Houghton sheriff’s services Saturday

HOUGHTON COUNTY SHERIFF BRIAN MCLEAN

HOUGHTON — Funeral service for longtime Houghton County Sheriff Brian McLean, who died Monday after a weekend accident at his home, will take place Saturday at the Rozsa Center on the Michigan Technological University campus in Houghton.

Public visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern time, followed by services and honors at 2 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced.

Members of the Michigan Sheriff’s and Municipal Memorial and Response Team are assisting in coordinating the ceremonies, which will include bagpipes, honor guards and participation by multiple law enforcement and first response agency personnel.

The indoor portion of ceremonies can be watched online via livestream on the Rozsa Center Facebook page.

Condolences should be addressed to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office at 403 E. Houghton Ave., Houghton, MI 49931, where they will be passed along to the intended recipients, the department stated.

The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock is handling arrangements.

A procession of Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Service and the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office brought McLean’s body back Thursday from UP Health System — Marquette, where he died Monday night. He had been in critical condition since the accident Saturday night.
