VA honors US Space Force

Eric Clawson, deputy chief of police at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, presents a U.S. Space Force flag to 2nd Lt. Fiona Asbury, who was accompanied by Tech. Sgt. Ryan Bartlett and Recruit Amber Cheatham, right. In the background at the recent ceremony is Coast Guard veteran Dale Holmes.

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is honoring the newest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces by adding the flag of the Space Force to its display in front of the medical center.

Veterans from each branch recently assisted in raising the flag of their respective services. Employees and residents of the facility’s Community Living Center attended the ceremony.

“Here at the Iron Mountain VA we honor all veterans, past, present and future,” said Zach Sage, acting medical center director. “At this time, we do not have any veterans enrolled here who have served in the U.S. Space Force. However, we know that in time we will serve those veterans with same quality care that we serve the veterans of today.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
