Body found in burning vehicle
EWING TOWNSHIP — Authorities have not released the name of an individual whose body was found in a burning vehicle Friday in Marquette County.
According to the Michigan State Police, the victim could not be positively identified as of Monday and the incident remains under investigation.
However, a death notice the Skradski Family Funeral Homes submitted Monday to the Daily Press in Escanaba stated that Cole E. Possi, 26, of Rock, was killed in a car fire the day of the incident.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were sent about 3:20 a.m. Friday to a vehicle on fire in the middle of West Maple Ridge Road in Ewing Township.
Tri-County Fire Department personnel were able to extinguish the fire before troopers arrived. A body then was seen inside the burned vehicle.
Detectives from the Negaunee Post were asked to assist in the investigation, along with the MSP Marquette Forensic Lab.
