Road work planned in Marinette County

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans several projects this year on U.S. 141 and U.S. 8 in northern Marinette County.

From June to October, resurfacing and underseal work is planned on U.S. 141 from Betters Court in Niagara to County Road R in the town of Pembine. The work includes milling and resurfacing the existing asphalt, placing an asphaltic underseal on the milled surface to help prevent issues with winter tenting on pavement, widening the existing paved shoulders, beam guard improvements, culvert rehabilitation, centerline and shoulder rumble strips, and pavement marking.

Similar work is planned on U.S. 8 in the town of Niagara from the Michigan state line to the intersection of U.S. 141.

The total length for these two projects is 11.7 miles, WisDOT said.

From August to November, a U.S. 141 resurfacing is scheduled from County Road R in the town of Pembine to County Road Z in the town of Beecher, a distance of 3.69 miles. This project consists of milling and resurfacing of the existing asphaltic lanes, installing centerline rumble strips, paved shoulders, adding gravel to existing shoulders, curb ramp improvements, and pavement marking.

Both U.S. 141 and U.S. 8 will remain open with lane closures and flagging operations throughout the projects.

In Pembine, County Road OO and Sauld Street will be closed for seven days to complete railroad crossing improvements. A pedestrian detour on U.S. 141 from Noyes to Cedar streets will be necessary during curb ramp improvements.
