Marquette police respond to alarm

MARQUETTE — Police surrounded the Marquette-Alger RESA building Tuesday afternoon due to an unknown threat, later found to be a “technical issue.”

“We responded here for a threat and an alarm,” said an officer on scene. “There’s no threat to the community, there was no injuries. The incident is still under investigation but it appears at face value that it was a technical issue with the alarm system and not anything legitimate as far as an active threat.”

At least ten police vehicles were spread throughout the building’s parking lot and surrounding streets. Officers with long-barreled guns stood at each entrance.

Michigan State Police, Marquette City Police and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department were all in attendance to address the issue.
