BREITUNG TOWNSHIP — No one was injured but a residence on Nocerini Road has heavy damage after a fire late Saturday night that lasted into early Sunday.

The Breitung Township Fire Department was called about 10:30 p.m. and found on arrival that flames already were showing through the roof of the two-story structure near Pine Mountain Road, Breitung Township Fire Chief Jim Rose said.

The occupants had all gotten safely out of the home, he said.

The department had about 22 fire staff on site until about 3:30 a.m., Rose said. While it initially appears the fire started in the upper level, an exact cause has yet to be determined, Rose said.

Assisting were Michigan State Police, the Dickinson County Sheriff, Kingsford Public Safety and Integrity EMS.
