Advisory on fire weather danger

The National Weather Service warned Sunday of elevated fire weather conditions in the central and western portions of the Upper Peninsula through this evening.

The advisory was issued for Dickinson, Iron, Menominee, Delta, Marquette, Keweenaw, Ontonagon, Houghton, Baraga, Alger, Luce, Gogebic and Schoolcraft counties.

The NWS office in Marquette was predicting mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s in the Iron Mountain area today. Rain was expected overnight.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Burn Permit Management System on Sunday indicated no burning was allowed in Dickinson, Iron and Menominee counties along with all other U.P. counties to the west. The burn permit map is at https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits/.
