IM Schools looks to address at-risk students

IRON MOUNTAIN –Iron Mountain Public Schools will look into adding two people to help with at-risk students.

The district has about $80,000 that can be used for that purpose and the school board has agreed to pursue it.

The district will consider hiring a student success worker at North Elementary School who could assist the principal with student discipline problems and another at the middle school/high school for at-risk behavior.

The board in other action:

— Approved hiring Steve Flaminio as the golf coach. There are 10 boys signed up for the sport, but no girls as of yet.

— Approved hiring Carissa Poupore as a community schools business consortium employee.
