District Court releases report

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County District Judge Julie Al LaCost has issued her activity report for the month of April.

New criminal cases for the month included 18 felonies, 31 misdemeanors, one felony drunk driving and six OWI/OUID misdemeanors.

New civil cases for the month included 49 general civil cases, 15 small claims cases and nine landlord/tenant disputes.

New traffic cases included 87 civil infractions, 13 misdemeanors and 10 non-traffic civil infractions.

Criminal dispositions for the month included four felony guilty pleas with three dismissed, 17 felony preliminary exams with 17 waived over to circuit court, one felony drunk driving (reduced to misdemeanor) guilty plea, one felony drunk driving exam that was waived over to circuit court, 21 misdemeanors and four 0WI/OUID misdemeanors.

Civil dispositions included 18 general civil, three small claims and four landlord/tenant.

Traffic dispositions included 65 civil infractions and four misdemeanors. There were two non-traffic civil infractions.

During the month there were five court trials.

The district court held four probation violation hearings, five drug-sobriety court referrals, one defendant was referred to the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, two defendants were referred to the sheriff work van and three defendants were referred to alcohol counseling.

There were eight show cause hearings and six marriage ceremonies.

Funds turned over to the Dickinson County Treasurer totaled $41,529.76. Funds turned over to the court trust totaled $15,022.68.
